craps stake sizes
Different casinos offer different sized stakes at their craps table. On the
internet, you can generally find about the same range of stake sizes from casino
to casino, which in itself, will be more diverse than what you will find in a
land-based casino. In other words, on the internet you will be able to play with
smaller, larger or medium sized stakes on a single table.
This is good to know because, depending on the size of one's bet, casino's
will round down payments. Although you are only missing out on some change per
say, this robbed "change" adds up in the long run and actually creates a larger
House Edge. All it takes is a few extra dollars to ensure you are making bets
with stakes that will payout the greatest amount possible.
Betting in the right increments is most important when taking the odds on
right bets (come and pass). Since free odds pays out true odds, in order to
ensure you are getting a rounded payout, you will sometimes need to bet a unit
more than your original wager. For instance, if you made an $8 wager on the 5 or
9, in order to get a rounded payout, you will need to make a free odds wager of
$10. Although free odds are "limited" to the size of the original bet, most
casinos will allow players to add one or two units to their free odds bet if it
means getting a rounded payoff.
To make things easier, here is a universal formula you can use to ensure you
will always get a rounded payout, whether you are betting in an online casino or
land-based establishment: For point numbers of 5 and 9, always make bets in even
amounts, such as $2, $4, $10 etc. For point numbers of 6 and 8, always make bets
in multiples of $5; For point numbers of 4, 6, 8 and 10, always make bets in
multiples of $5. It's that easy.
One last thing to keep in mind when determining your stake sizes at the craps
table. If you plan to make full use of free odds wagers whenever the opportunity
arises (which you should), make your bets as if the free odds wager is a part of
you original bet. In other words, if you can afford to make $10 bets, you should
make an initial pass or come wager of $5, with the expectation that you will
make an additional $5 bet when it's time to take free odds. Even if you lose on
the comeout roll, stick to this betting regiment. You will last much longer at
the craps table and will also have a very good chance of beefing your bankroll
up considerably. It's no exaggeration to say that with some good strategy, a
healthy bankroll and a little luck, you can stand to make some good money while
playing craps at online casinos.
