Kahnawake Licensed Online Casinos Off the UK
Whitelist
by Lance Kessel Onlinecasinosworld.com

The Kahnawake Gaming
Commission apparently thinks they were not given fair
consideration by the UK government to be added on the UK
online casino whitelist. Going so far as to claim the decision
is in violation of the United Nations Declaration on the
Rights of Indigenous People, Grand Chief Michael Ahrihrhon
Delisle Jr. has thus far been vocal expressing the Kahnawake
Gaming Commission's disappointment in the decision.
The Mohawk Council of
Kahnawake made it clear they will continue to regulate online
gambling according to their current standards, which could
perhaps be taken as defiance to any possible changes the UK
government would like to see the Commission enforce if they
were to be given further consideration of being approved. As
things stand now, Kahnawake believes their application was not
given fair and objective consideration. Delisle even went on
to say that indigenous peoples have the right to maintain and
develop their economic institutions and to engage freely in
economic activities.
Nobody denies the fact
that Kahnawake has made monumental strides in the regulation
of online casinos (although Kahnawake thinks otherwise). There
is no doubt the UK government has taken note of the fact that
Kahnawake implements the eCOGRA standard of compliance and has
a due diligence program in place. However, what Delisle and
the Mohawk Council seem to not be taking into consideration is
that their enforcement and implementation of these standards
has not been perfect.
It would seem that
Delisle think indigenous peoples have the right to engage in
economic activities, but to do so at their own standards. If
we look at the big picture - that is, the overall picture -
there are several online casinos licensed by Kahnawake who are
not eCOGRA approved and who, quite frankly, have not ounce of
credibility other than their Kahnawake seal. Several notorious
online casinos, such as Crystal Palace, and the Virtual Gaming
software brand are all licensed by Kahnawake. Would the UK
government be so unwise to allow establishments like these to
advertise in the UK? They would have to be out of their mind!
It's this author's
opinion that Grand Chief Delisle and the Mohawk Council need
to take a closer, honest look at their operations. Just a few
months back, the Absolute Poker Room was at the core of the
largest online poker cheating scandal to date. And guess who
regulates and owns this poker room? That's right - the Mohawks
of Kahnawake.
