Mobile online casino gaming just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and is
expected to stay on this course for years to come. According to the highly
respected international research firm, Juniper Research, mobile online casino
wagers are projected to reach $5 billion by the year 2012 as more players become
familiar with the service and an increasing number of jurisdictions begin
liberalizing online gambling laws.
Assessing both the current and future state of the online gaming market,
Juniper Research has compiled multiple case studies, interviews and analysis
undertaken by several leading businesses and organizations with major interests
in the online mobile gaming sector. All in all, the findings show a thriving
online mobile gaming industry in the coming years. While over 60% of mobile
casino players come from the UK, currently, Juniper predicts the UK will only
account for around 20% of all mobile users once the industry penetrates more
into Asia and elsewhere.
Other predictions in the report include large growth in single-user mobile
games (especially online slots), as well as multiplayer casino game tournaments.
Based on trends that have already begun showing themselves at online casinos,
the increased coverage of 3G and more advanced mobile gaming products will help
to make online mobile gaming more attractive and feasible.
In addition to predicting the an overall market value of $5 billion by 2012,
Juniper predicts global gross wins will rise from less than $5 million this year
to around $133 million by 2012. Despite low levels of multiplayer activity at
online casinos currently, Juniper predicts gross wins will partly rise due to
the higher monthly average of bet amounts at multiplayer games.
With mobile gaming entrepreneurs like Microgaming's partner, Spin3, things
certainly do look good for the mobile gaming sector. Spin3 just announced it has
launched a new system (OnCash) that will help land-based casinos and gaming
businesses to enter the online mobile world. Instead of dealing with cash, and
thus skirting around the U.S. online gambling ban, the OnCash system uses
credits to award mobile gamers, who in turn, can redeem their mobile casino
winnings at land-based casinos.
