online casinos world : : roulette

Roulette is one of the oldest games in the world. The Wheel of Chance has been played in many forms over the years and has developed into what we know as Roulette today. There are now several versions of Roulette that can be enjoyed in online casinos, each with a slightly different twist. As with any game, the best thing you can do to be a successful roulette player is to familiarize yourself with the different types of games and the available bets. There are several bets offered at roulette, so it pays to know what is for the taking. When you know the layout of the table and the odds of the various bets, you will then be ready to incorporate strategy, which for the most part, consists of playing those bets with the best inherent odds.

American Roulette has both a 'Zero' and a 'Double Zero' plus 36 numbered slots on the wheel and 36 numbered spaces on the table. Players set their chips on the number or betting field and the croupier spins the wheel and releases the ball.

European Roulette has a single 'Zero' plus 36 numbered slots on the wheel and 36 numbered spaces on the table. The rules are the same as American Roulette, otherwise, the only difference being that the odds are better for winning at European Roulette due to the fact that there is one less space on the wheel and table. Therefore, another good for playing roulette in an online casino is to always play the European version over the American.

Here are some basic pointers for playing Roulette:

  • Play the European version of Roulette over the American version (we already went over this).

  • Play more even money bets more than any other bet (red/black, low/high, even/odd).

  • Do not place the five number bet (0, 00, 1, 2, 3) - the 5 to 1 payout is not worth the risk.

  • Play roulette at casinos offering en prison or la partage (French).

Bets:

- Red or Black- Betting on the color

- Even or Odd - Betting on even or odd numbers

- Low or High - Betting low on 1 - 18 or high on 19 - 36

- Column - Betting in one of the boxes on the table marked '2 to 1', corresponding to twelve numbers each.

- Dozen - Betting on the First 12, Second 12 or Third 12 box, corresponding to twelve numbers each.

- Straight Up - Betting on any one number, including the Zero and Double Zero.

- Split - Betting on two numbers by setting the chip on the line between any two numbers.

- Street - This bet covers three numbers by placing the chip on the outside right line nearest the numbers.

- Corner - Bets on 4 numbers by placing the chip where the lines of four adjacent numbers meet directly in the center.

- Five - A bet on any one of 5 numbers: 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3. Chips are placed on the outside border line of the zeros.

- Line - Covers two Street Bets by placing the chip on the outside right line at the dividing line between two streets.

French Roulette is played with a single 'Zero' on an all-red table. There are 36 numbered slots on the wheel and 36 numbered spaces on the table. In French Roulette, there is one big difference that players really seem to like - And rightly so, for it helps to bring down the Casinos Edge. It's the La Partage rule, which states when a player makes an even money bet and the ball lands on Zero, the player only loses half of their bet. The table markings and betting fields are in French and the bets are all the same as they are in American and European Roulette, except for the Call Bets, which are explained below.

- Voisins du Zero - (Neighbors of Zero) This bet is made on the 17 numbers surrounding the Zero. The numbers are 0, 2, 3, 4, 7, 12, 15, 18, 19, 21, 22, 25, 26, 28, 29, 32 and 35.

- Tiers du Cylindre (Third of the Wheel) - This bet is made on the 12 numbers that are opposite the Zero on the wheel. The numbers are 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 16, 23, 24, 26, 27, 30 and 33.

- Orphelins (Orphans) - This bet is made on the remaining numbers that aren't included in the previous two types of bets. The numbers are 1, 6, 9, 14, 17, 20, 31 and 34.

- Finales en Plein - These are a variety of ten different three-chip and four-chip bets made on numbers ending in specific digits. For example, 3, 13, 23, and 33.

- Finales a Cheval - These are a series of nineteen different bets made on numbers that end in one of two digits. For example: 2/5 - 2, 5, 12, 15, 22, 25, 32 and 35.
