Take Advantage of a Lower Casinos Edge When
Playing Online Roulette
Considering the addition of the 00 (double zero) on an
American Roulette table increases the House Edge from 2.7%,
which is had with the European version, to 5.25%, it only
makes sense to play the European version. Then why would
anyone ever play American Roulette? The answer, simply, is Las
Vegas, as well as the nature of roulette itself. Contrary to
what some people believe, the "American" version of roulette
is actually the original European version brought to America
from Europe. Not until 1840, when a gambling entrepreneur
opened a small casino in Germany, and took away the double
zero as a means of luring more bettors, was European Roulette
formed. This is partly why roulette is so much more popular in
Europe than it is in America. Another reason why European
roulette is not as popular in America is because the game of
roulette, in general, is not a type of game suited to the
predominate American betting style. In other words, it's too
slow of a game. Las Vegas casinos, the majority of which only
offer American roulette, have actually offered European
roulette in the past. One casino even put a European and
American table side by side. After realizing both tables
received the same amount of activity, casinos understandably
removed the European version since they knew they would make
more money from the American table. On the internet, there
simply is no excuse for players to gamble at an American
table. The only reason it exists in virtual form in the first
place is because some players do not know any better. Some
people unfortunately believe that covering the 0 and 00 via
several straight bets and the disadvantageous five-number bet
will actually help them, while others just assume that since
they are American, the American version is best suited for
them. Back to
